Specsavers unveils virtual styling experience app

Frame Styler has been launched by Specsavers in the UK and Republic of Ireland

Frame Styler, a new frame recommendation technology, has been launched by Specsavers in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

The technology can be used on in-store tablets and is designed to improve the glasses choosing experience for many customers.

The optical teams in stores will guide the customer through the process by taking a 180-degree scan of their face and can produce a high-resolution 3D model, with realistic highlights and shadows added.

In one second, 12 Specsavers’ frames are selected for each customer based on their face shape, gender, age and most popular frames purchased by similar people. Frame Styler then shows each frame from multiple angles and allows customers to see them in 3D on the screen, comparing how they look with a swipe.

Paul Marshall, managing director, said: ‘The Frame Styler app is one more innovative new service that we are introducing in our stores and will enhance the customer journey. Customers love it because it takes the chore out of frame selection.’

Optometrist director Kerril Hickey of the Blanchardstown store in Dublin noted that it was a successful customer experience and that everyone in the store loves to use it during the pre-tests.
