Soapstar Sheree Murphy and Radio 1 DJ Colin Murray were named Specsavers' Celebrity Spectacle Wearers of 2007 at a ceremony in London.
The awards were presented by Kimberly Stewart, who launched Specsavers' annual search for ordinary people who look extraordinary in glasses earlier this year. Murphy said she had worn her spectacles since she was 13 and loved the fact that there were many more trendy options for her to choose from.
Murray, who started wearing glasses three years ago, said he never thought he would enjoy being a spectacle wearer but now he feels like he has worn them forever and they are something of fashion statement.
During the evening, a lucky member of the public, Sarah Pender, was named Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year, winning a 12-month modelling contract among other prizes. A charity auction in aid of Diabetes UK was also held.
