Spectralis OCT sales gaining momentum

Heidelberg Engineering has announced 450% growth in sales of its Spectralis OCT system over the last four years.

This follows last week’s the delivery of its 10,000^th system to a private practice near Paris. The upgradable platform has been considered cutting edge by practitioners for integrating spectral domain OCT with the confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopy.

The latest upgrade of the system uses an increased scan rate of 85,000 Hz. Heidelberg said this improves the speed of image acquisition by 50% and enables practitioners to provide advanced imaging techniques, such as OCT angiography.

Director of Heidelberg Engineering UK, Krysten Williams, said: ‘We put this remarkable growth down to raising the standard of education within acute care and the community settings.
