A clinical network has been set up to provide better screening services and share images for six research projects in the West Midlands.
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust has had five Heidelberg Spectralis OCT units and one Heidelberg Retina Angiograph unit networked by fibre optics between its hospitals for the past three years, under the direction of its lead clinician of macular services
Sergio Pagliarini (pictured). He said: ‘The Spectralis makes assessment decisions robust. The mapping software is particularly valuable clinically for the most challenging patients, particularly for decisions on whether to re-treat or not as subtle retinal changes can be reliably followed through individually numbered scan lines.’
