The job resulted from an internet inquiry and the brief, design and logistics were sorted out by email before the client flew from the US to place the order. Mark Fantom of Lynx IDG explained that the upmarket refit included linear displays and bespoke fittings, which, after two months in preparation, were transported to Split on a 1,500 mile trip via the Alps and involving two ferry crossings. In spite of having the correct paperwork, there was a problem with customs and a hold-up on the border. Nonetheless, the two Lynx fitters were able to complete the work in a week. 'We decided to transport the fittings ourselves because the items were bespoke and they could not be replaced easily. Shipping them, as we do with our export orders, would have taken longer. 'Now that we are aware of the pitfalls and have carried out the work once, we are gearing up for a roll out of the upmarket practice designs in Croatia,' explains Mr Fantom. The company is also aiming to expand its profile and interests in the worldwide market. It already has relationships with specialist optical fitting companies in Europe and the US, and predicts further developments in this area.
