A not-for-profit organisation to promote interest in sports vision and research into aspects of its application was set up late last month.
The Sports Vision Group was founded on November 22 under the chairmanship of optometrist Gavin Rebello. At the meeting a constitution for the group was established, the activity of the group decided upon and conditions for membership spelled out.
The Sports Vision Group will be independent but will be supported with financial sponsorship from Sportvision Ltd. It will focus on the provision of bursaries and research grants for practitioners and institutions active in the sports vision field.
Membership of The Sports Vision Group is open to holders of the CET-accredited Diploma in Sports Vision Practice, and to participants in sports vision screening and casework.
A course leading to the Diploma in Sports Vision will be available next year.
