Luxottica Group and Stella McCartney Limited have announced a six-year exclusive licence agreement for the design, production and global distribution of sunglasses under the brand Stella McCartney from January 2009.

Luxottica Group and Stella McCartney Limited have announced a six-year exclusive licence agreement for the design, production and global distribution of sunglasses under the brand Stella McCartney from January 2009.

Stella McCartney Limited - a joint venture between Stella McCartney and Gucci Group - switched to Luxottica from rivals Safilo, which makes all of Gucci Group's other brands. Safilo had held the licence agreement to produce and distribute Stella McCartney frames since 2003.

Stella McCartney's CEO and president, Marco Bizzarri, said: 'We are particularly pleased to partner with Luxottica, the leading company in the sector and combine our experience and expertise.'
