Stepper UKturns on the style with 2004 collection

The latest products from Stepper UK for 2004 follow trends of sports, shallow, rimless and plastic.

The company, which mainly produces product for the early presbyope onwards, reports that styles for the over-40s are now more adventurous than ever before. Managing director Richard Crook adds that Stepper has to be able to react with speed in the market.
With the trend of sports styling, the lens shapes will taper towards the nose and are now available in the company's ophthalmic frame designs. 'A more integrated, simple and aerodynamic look will be increasingly popular next year,' adds Crook.
With the early presbyope market, demand is increasing for more youthful frames, with shallower designs. The 'youth' theme has also extended to rimless eyewear, with minimalist, modern styles for an almost invisible look.
'This market doesn't want to advertise that they need to wear spectacles. They are often more sophisticated and affluent and will choose a more expensive frame and lens combination, to minimise the visual impact of their eyewear,' says Crook.
He adds that plastic is continuing to reinvent itself. 'Exciting materials like grilamide and flexible sides that are opaque and can be combined with rimless styles will be very popular. Look out for more in this direction from Stepper in 2004.'
