Stroke and vision loss study funded

Fight for Sight and the Stroke Association have partnered

A study that tests the effectiveness of ‘retraining the eyes’ for people who have experienced vision loss after a stroke has received funding.

Announced on World Stroke Day (October 29), Fight for Sight and the Stroke Association have partnered with the aim to establish a new standard of care for stroke survivors.

Currently, there is no cure for hemianopia and treatment is not standardised in the NHS because of uncertainty about what works best and when to offer treatment.

A group of 71 stroke survivors will receive eye scanning training and be compared to a group that does not in order to assess improvement in vision and independence in everyday activities.
