Student DO suspended

A General Optical Council fitness to practise committee has suspended student dispensing optician Imran Tafader for nine months after an investigation found that he lied about the results of his exams

A General Optical Council fitness to practise committee has suspended student dispensing optician Imran Tafader for nine months after an investigation found that he lied about the results of his exams.

London-based Tafader, also known as Mahammad Tafadher, lied on two separate documents when he sought to obtain a university place.

In making its decision, the committee, chaired by Sara Fenoughty, said: ‘The committee concluded that this dishonesty was serious and compounded by the creation of the false document. It is clear that these proceedings have been a salutary lesson and that he has great regret. The committee concluded that a suspension order is proportionate on public interest grounds.’
