Syed Shah’s fitness to undertake training was found to be impaired

A student optometrist based in London has been erased from the General Optical Council’s register after being convicted for possession of cocaine and cannabis, as well as a knife.
Syed Shah’s fitness to undertake training was found to be impaired by reason of convictions by a GOC fitness to practise committee.
Shah was initially suspended for 12 months for misconduct in relation to his convictions and informed the GOC that he no longer wished to undertake training as a student optometrist or pursue a career in optometry.
