Student optometrist erased from GOC register

Student optometrist is erased by the GOC from its register

A student optometrist based in Harrow has been erased by the GOC from its register.

Deepa Acharya will now be unable to undertake training as a student optometrist in the UK, as a GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found her fitness to train impaired by reason of misconduct regarding her lying in her university application about her A level and first year university results.

The Committee decided that incorrectly stating that she had achieved a 2.1 in the first year of her Pharmaceutical Science degree and higher A Level results than she actually had was dishonest, misleading and lacked integrity.

Acharya has until January 7, 2020 to appeal her erasure.
