New from fledgling eyewear company Eyespace (Optician 20.09.13) is the unisex Basebox ophthalmic frame collection. Described as a fashion-forward range for 15-30 year-olds, the collection uses a mix of acetate, combination and metal frames for men and women.
‘The ethos of the brand is to create eyewear for a new generation which is full of fashion attitude but never overwhelms the wearer. It focuses on the tricky teen and young professional which is typically drawn to designer styles but historically has had to compromise due to price restrictions,’ said a company spokesperson. Models such as the women’s BB6002 (1) and the men’s BB6009 (2) channel the retro trend but give them a modern twist ? through the use of bright colours and detailing.
The multi-layered acetate BB6002 frame has a large cat’s eye-inspired shape with subtle temple detailing while the full rim BB6009 has a masculine rectangular silhouette with bevelled sections and a linear cut-out that reveals yellow or orange stripes.
