Optegra Eye Health Care has launched an employee initiative aimed at promoting acceptance and diversity among its staff.

The initiative, organised to coincide with No Discrimination Day on March 1, convened a forum of employees who felt less represented due to race, religion, disability, sexuality or gender identity and was based on the personal experience of Optegra regional director Kathryn Bryant. Optegra said that the move would help to shape the agenda for how the company supports diversity and inclusion.

Bryant explained: ‘As part of the LGBT community myself, I have been very aware that in the past 20 plus years of working in private healthcare, this level of support and openness about diversity and inclusion can be surprisingly lacking.’
