Tackling practice thefts

CCTV footage has been released by Avon and Somerset Police in an effort to find a man responsible for stealing sunglasses and iPads during a break-in at Norville and Dobinson Opticians in Downend.

The robbery, which took place on Monday, June 5, saw the man crawl through the bottom half of a glass door he had just broken using a brick. He attempted to remove IT equipment and ransacked drawers before leaving with frames and tablets.

The man in the footage was described as white, about 6ft, wearing a distinctive Chicago Bulls jacket, light coloured joggers and black trainers. Anyone who recognises the man was asked to call Avon and Somerset Police on 101.

A man who stole Saint Laurent glasses from a branch of Boots Optician in Lymington has been ordered to pay compensation.

Thirty-year-old Mitch Mitchell admitted stealing the Saint Laurent sunglasses in June and was told to pay £260 compensation matching the retail value of the frames.
