Bespoke eyewear manufacturer TD Tom Davies has announced a new service called Made To Order (MTO).
The new option will make it faster and easier for opticians to order frames in one of five sizes in any of the brand’s colours, said the firm.
Chief executive officer, Tom Davies, said the MTO service added a small premium to the price of each frame but would allow practices to have the exact product they needed. ‘It’s actually very similar to ordering a stock frame,’ said Davies, ‘but in any colour or size’.
He said since the firm launched the bespoke service eight years ago, its factory had mastered the art of ‘just in time’ manufacturing so the service could be offered on all stock, not just bespoke styles.
‘My workshop has become so good at making glasses in just a few weeks that we are now able to offer this simple customisation service for just an additional £5.00 on the stock item,’ he said.
