Management instability at Luxottica continues following the resignation of co-CEO Enrico Cavatorta just six weeks after taking up the position.
Luxottica said Cavatorta had resigned following disagreements with chairman and founder Leonardo Del Vecchio over governance structure of the company. Roger Abravanel resigned from the board of directors for the same reasons the following day.
Cavatorta was appointed in early September following the departure of the Andrea Guerra. Media reports at the time claimed that Guerra had also clashed with Del Vecchio, who in the interim has assumed executive responsibilities while the company recruits co-CEOs. Former chief operations officer Massimo Vian has been appointed as interim co-CEO of operations and product as part of the new dual CEO structure introduced last month.
