Broadhurst Optometrists has encouraged local children to have their eyes tested before returning to school this month.
The independent has launched a practice in Preston where it invited youngsters to undertake simple tasks wearing simulator goggles that created various vision impairments. Its new practice was described as modern and high-tech, with an Optomap retinal scan device.
Broadhurst Optometrists director Mike Broadhurst said: 'The link between learning and eyesight is compelling. Regular eye exams that include a thorough assessment of the retina are crucial for children, particularly before the child starts school, as poor eyesight can affect a child's educational performance and social development.'
