TescoÕs supplier takes FODO treasurer post

In an indication of how the supermarkets are becoming more involved in mainstream optometry, the managing director of TescoÕs optical supplier has become FODO treasurer. Alan Tinger, managing director of Galaxy Optical Services, the supplier to Tesco Opticians, was one of several changes at the top of the employersÕ body announced at this weekÕs agm.Mr Tinger, who is a chartered accountant, has replaced Brian Collinson who steps up to become vice-chairman after serving for seven years as FODO treasurer.Dispensing optician and chairman of Rayner & Keeler, Arthur Swain, becomes chairman, replacing former Boots Opticians director of finance Brian Carroll, who was chairman of FODO for three years. Mr Swain was a member of FODOÕs Council for three years, and has been vice chairman for the last 12 months. Mr Swain will continue to chair FODOÕs working party on LOCs.
