testing toolbox: A new app has been added by Thomson Software Solutions to its portfolio of vision assessment software for use with the iPad. The Vision Toolbox includes near vision tests, for example test types, Snellen charts, LogMAR charts, duochrome, fixation disparity and stereopsis, as well as diagrams, images and videos to explain diagnoses to patients. The app, which can be downloaded for £35 from the Mac app store, is also described as a solution for domiciliary testing, with a range of tests scaled for 3 metres. Professor David Thomson, who developed the software, commented: 'At last practitioners can replace the plethora of boxes, cards and books traditionally used for near vision testing with a single, elegant solution.'
