Optical supplier The Body Doctor appointed an optical director as part of company expansion plans, and celebrated a new trophy for fastest growing small business.
Zerqa Malik has taken up the mantle as optical director and will build and lead a team of new optical sales specialists to develop sales strategies. Malik’s former role was head of sales at Scope Ophthalmics and she has worked in management roles within the health and wellness industry for 10 years.
The Body Doctor’s managing director, Sue Grant, said: ‘We look forward to her developing, supporting and introducing innovative specialist programmes to our optical partners.’
Commenting on her new role, Malik added: ‘This was a unique and exciting opportunity to be involved in a developing optical field but with a company that respects fundamental core values as it is a family-owned business that believes in putting the end users first.
‘I was drawn to the company by its ethos and vision and excited by its potential to move to another level within the dry eye market. The quality of the company’s products was an important consideration, in particular its superior range of premium dry eye care products.’
The company also won Fastest Growing Small Business (turnover £1-£10m) at the Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 Awards, in association with Yorkshire Post, on March 25.
This celebrated Yorkshire businesses that have shown the most ‘sustained growth in tough times through innovation, efficiency and skills,’ based on financial data and activities. The Body Doctor company achieved an average annual turnover growth of 127.98% in 2020.
Grant highlighted the efforts of its dedicated team and said the award recognised the company's core value of always having the patient's needs at the forefront of their minds, and its determination to be progressive, innovative and constantly develop new products.
