Following two thefts from Filos sales representatives, the companyÕs UK director John Johnson has made a personal appeal to the profession.ÔIt would help the whole industry if opticians, when asked to glaze spectacles without actually supplying frames, requested proof of purchase or enquired where the holder had acquired the frames,Õ he said.The two sales reps had their entire sample collections stolen in the past fortnight. Mr Johnson asked for DOs in particular to look out for Vivienne Westwood, Benetton, Kappa, Sisley, Piave, and Red Rose frames.ÔIf any of these frames are submitted for glazing, please either contact myself at Filos in Southampton, or your local police force,Õ said Mr Johnson.ÔThe theft of frames harms the whole industry indirectly and we are in an excellent position to eradicate this type of crime by making the theft pointless and thereby removing the demand.Õ
