Tom Davies has increased its production workforce in Shenzen, China by 22 per cent since December 2010 as a result of growing demand for the company's eyewear.
To mark the progress, the company invited a team of international opticians to tour the facilities as part of an inaugural four-day advanced training programme, with 12 opticians from Denmark, Holland, Malaysia, Singapore and the US visiting the production departments and newly renovated ground floor of the TD Tom Davies workshop last month.
The practitioners were able to oversee the production of frames they had ordered for customers in recent weeks. As well as observing the production processes from initial design and engineering through to the final quality control, the visitors took part in workshops on key stages including wire rim forming, sandblasting and hand polishing.
