Tour to be different

As competition in the contact lens sector becomes more intense, practitioners are being invited to a seminar programme to help them differentiate their business.

No 7 Contact Lens Laboratory is to run a tour of 'Ortho K in Practice' events, starting in Coventry in August (see Diary Dates, page 6) and bi/multifocals and torics in the autumn.

A spokesman for the company said: 'Currently supermarkets account for virtually zero sales of soft lenses, but what will that number be in five years and where will that business come from? Now is the time to educate and be different.'

A key part of the Ortho K seminar is a demonstration of the company's DreamLite system which gives advice on how the professional can fit Ortho K lenses.

Ortho-K lenses reshape the cornea with the aim of compensating for myopia.

Ten Ortho K seminars will take place, in Coventry (August 10 and 11), Nottingham (August 24 and 25), Bristol (September 7 and 8), Newcastle (September 21 and 22) before finally taking in Leeds (October 19 and 20).

All four seminars on fitting bi/multifocals and torics, in which practitioners will be able to refresh their skills, will take place in Hastings, where No 7 Contact Lenses has its head office, on September 1 and 15, October 6 and 27.
