Specsavers' nationwide Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition has attracted 2,500 extra entries this year.
The competition pulled in 7,262 entrants compared to 4,794 in 2009 and Specsavers links this to increased use of Facebook and Twitter as part of its media strategy.
TV presenter and fashion expert Gok Wan is hosting the final at London's V&A museum on November 10 and actress and model Kelly Brook (pictured) is presenting the prizes.
