Nottingham Trent University is to hold a two-day course in the craft of bespoke ocularistry.
The class, on January 23 and 24, has been designed for practising ocularists, trainees or those looking to become an ocularist in the future.
It will be led by John Pacey-Lowrie, who has 36 years of experience in the field and is currently developing a patented light-reactive pupil prosthesis.
He said: ‘The painting, the manufacture – that’s the skill, that’s the art and that’s the fun, and the nice thing is at the end of the process when you’ve created something for a patient, seeing the smile on that person’s face.’ The £725 course had attracted attention from professionals in countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Greece and Colombia.
