UK contact lens sales continue to grow, says ACLM

Contact lens sales in the UK are estimated to have grown by around four per cent during 2014 in the UK according to the Association of Contact Lens Manufacturers.

Figures from Euromcontact which monitors sales of contact lenses in 33 countries, do not show the true picture, said the ACLM as these figures are compiled from sell-in statistics which monitor the product sold to practices and are not gathered direct from wearers.

In 2014 a series of UK redistributions of inventory skewed the picture to show a decline, the ACLM continued. It says measuring systems from its members show a different story to the published number prompting it to issue its estimate.
