Entrepreneurs from the Bristol Private Equity Club have invested a joint sum of £225,000 in Bristol-based Okko Health.
Okko Health was founded with the intention of reducing the strain on hospital eye service departments by providing patients with a method of monitoring their eye health at home. Software similar to a video game is used to assess visual health via a smartphone app.
Co-founder and optom Dr Stephanie Campbell explained: ‘Currently, no reliable and safe home monitoring technology exists, so all eye disease monitoring appointments must be done in person at the clinic.’
The funding will allow Okko Health to grow its team and begin early clinical testing.
