University of West of England looks to launch undergraduate programme

Recruitment of a senior lecturer of optometry is underway for a proposed undergraduate programme at the University of the West of England (UWE).

The university, which has over 27,000 students and 250,000 alumni, posted the vacancy to join the Department of Allied Health Professions on its website late last week.

The job description said the role would involve ‘designing, leading and teaching on an innovative undergraduate optometry programme.’ Candidates were required to be practising and registered with the General Optical Council, and expected to have achieved a Master’s degree.

The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with regional and national external optometry partners and liaise with professional bodies.
