Optical practice in London introduces eye test marketing campaign

An optical practice in Shoreditch, London, has introduced an ‘Urban Eye Test’ to help make booking appointments easier for patients.

The test was conceptualised by McCann Health London for OCO Opticians of Spitalfields. It features 10 floor panels located around Brick Lane, Shoreditch and Spitalfields Market that ask people if they can see landmarks.

These include the clock on Christ Church, Spitalfields a certain distance away worked out by using the Snellen formula. If they can’t, there is a QR code included on the panel that people can scan via their smartphone to book a free eye examination.

Jennie Hillyer, OCO co-founder and optometrist said: ‘It's an easy and innovative way to get Londoners to start thinking about their eye health by making them realise that their vision might not be perfect. Because vision deteriorates quite slowly, people often don’t realise there’s anything wrong.’
