The College and ABDO have confirmed that practices should still only provide urgent eye care services

A joint statement has been issued to confirm that the clinical advice to optical practitioners to deliver essential, emergency or urgent eye care only was still in place.
The College of Optometrists and the Association of British Dispensing Opticians said that routine sight tests are suspended until further notice and that remote consultations should be utilised to provide support.
‘We request that all practitioners continue to adhere to each nations’ guidance on the provision of eye care services,’ the professional bodies said.
