UWE crowned Optoversity winners

University of the West of England students won the 2022 challenge

A team of optometry students from the University of the West of England (UWE) have won Out of the Box Optics’ Optoversity Challenge 2022.

Over 63 students from three year groups took part in the online event, which included quizzes and Objective Structured Clinical Examination-style scenarios.

The winning UWE team also raised the most money for the event’s chosen charity, Vision Care for Homeless People, with almost £7,000 raised in total by all the teams.

Karmelo Modina, organiser and co-founder of Out of the Box Optics, said: ‘To have 12 universities represented this year is unprecedented and has encouraged us to create even better ways within our platform to ‘routinise’ charitable service. Well done everyone, keep going, keep growing.’
