Lower consumer confidence has resulted in the UK optical market shrinking during the third quarter of the year.
The optical market value in the UK decreased by 3.7 per cent in the third quarter, compared to the prior year period, according to optical industry analysts, the GfK Group.
It was found that the decline was driven by the market's largest segment, frames, in which values were down by 9.3 per cent.
However, the value of the contact lens sector grew by 4 per cent during the quarter, GfK added.
