Katrina Venerus has been appointed as the first managing director of the Local Optical Committee Support Unit (LOCSU).
Venerus, who was previously director of operations and commissioning, took up the position from the beginning of this month.
LOCSU chairman Alan Tinger said: 'Katrina's appointment reflects the development of LOCSU as an organisation and her outstanding work over the past two years to raise the profile of LOCSU with the NHS, the wider optical sector and particularly with the LOCs on whose behalf LOCSU operates.
'Katrina has built an excellent reputation in supporting LOCs navigating through the challenges and opportunities posed by NHS reforms. Under Katrina's management, LOCSU will continue to deliver the advice and expertise for which it is now highly regarded by the sector.'
