Vision Care for Homeless People celebrated 20 years of providing better vision through regional drop-in clinics at an event in London last week.
Guests gathered on the 36th Floor of Sales Force Tower in the City to celebrate supporting more than 18,000 homeless people over the past two decades.
Supporters from the optical chain, technology providers, university representatives, optical organisations and charities joined to celebrate improving access to eye care and also promoting advocacy and pushing for change.
Elaine Styles, Chair of the charity and one of the founder optometrists, told guests that the number of regional clinics will increase from seven to 24 in the near future.
‘Our humble beginnings and shared vision to provide eye care for homeless and vulnerable people in the UK has grown beyond our wildest dreams,’ she said.
‘Our deepest gratitude goes to the countless volunteers and supporters who have selflessly dedicated their time, skills, and resources to this noble cause. Together, we have provided not just eye care but hope and dignity to individuals who often find themselves forgotten and marginalised.
‘Our work is far from done, but with your unwavering support and dedication, we can continue making a profound impact in the lives of people experiencing homelessness.’
