Eight Crown Eyeglass practices in north-west England are to close and four will be rebranded as part of a 12-practice acquisition by Vision Express.
The multiple said services from the eight practices trading as Crown Optical Centre and Direkt Optik that are to close would transfer to nearby Vision Express practices. It would seek to retain the 'valued experience' of Crown Eyeglass personnel within its own network of 331 stores.
The remaining four practices would trade from their current locations under Vision Express branding and continue using existing staff.
The multiple's chief executive officer Jonathan Lawson said: 'This is a very exciting investment for Vision Express and we are looking forward to working with our new teams and welcoming new customers to Vision Express.
