First Vision Express at Tesco store has opened in Thurrock

A first Vision Express at Tesco store has opened in Thurrock – the beginning of a 600-store rollout in the UK and Ireland.

The newly integrated store, within Tesco Extra at Lakeside retail park, was unveiled to local residents this week.

Vision Express CEO Jonathan Lawson declared the store open with a ribbon cutting ceremony and welcomed three new staff members.

The opening, using a new logo and colour scheme, follows Vision Express’ acquisition of Tesco Opticians last year.

Lawson said: ‘Today marks a momentous day in Vision Express’ history as we unveil our first Vision Express at Tesco store. With fresh and inviting new branding, which is perfectly aligned to our ‘Vision.Taken Seriously’ ethos, we look forward to welcoming new and existing customers through our doors.

‘It’s fantastic to officially begin our rebrand programme with a celebration at our new Lakeside store. This acquisition allows us to offer a thorough and expert optical service to reach more people in even more convenient locations, ensuring former Tesco Optician customers experience seamless eye health services.’

As part of the acquisition, the company has also announced a £1.5m investment at its Nottingham-based Technical Centre.
