Vision for a Nation gives Rwanda new vision for eye health

An initiative in Rwanda has set out to meet the increasing eye health needs in the country and put in place a long-term structure for care.

Coinciding with World Sight Day (October 9), UK registered charity Vision for a Nation (VFAN) is about to embark on a new phase as part of a four-year project in partnership with the country’s Ministry of Health.

Since 2012, VFAN has been working to provide eye health training to over 1,200 nurses in the country with the aim of developing a nationwide primary eye care system and offering affordable glasses at every one of Rwanda’s 502 health centres.
