WCO exceeds Myopia pledge

A new goal has been set by the World Council of Optometry after it surpassed the 50,000 milestone of eye care organisations and individuals that have pledged to adopt myopia management as the standard of care.

The organisation has received pledges across 86 countries and all continents and has set a new target of 100,000 pledges.

Dr Sandra Block, president-elect of the World Council of Optometry, said: ‘Taking the pledge sends a clear message that organizations and practitioners understand the seriousness of myopia as a public health threat and that they are taking active measures to manage that threat. We are delighted to see so many are responding to the challenge and encourage those who haven’t yet to take the pledge today.’
