WCSM admits new liverymen

A ceremony held by the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (WCSM) on December 12 admitted nine new liverymen who represented a range of optical specialisms.

CEO Tim Clover and chief sales execution officer Cary Dawes from intraocular lens manufacturer Rayner accepted the invitation to livery together.

Imran Hakim, founder of the Hakim Group, and Luke Wren, head of business development, joined the many practice owners in the group who are freemen and liverymen.

‘To be recognised by The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers is a humbling experience. Their dedication to eye health aligns with our mission at Hakim Group. This honour is a reflection, not only of individual accomplishments but also of the collective efforts of our entire team,’ Hakim said.

Other new liverymen included: Lisa Donaldson, optometrist and head of eye care and vision at SeeAbility; Dr Elizabeth Graham, a retired ophthalmologist and trustee at Retina UK; Professor Chris Hammond from King’s College London and consultant surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital; qualifications consultant Caroline Hall, who was the WCSM’s officer when it was a registered examination body; and WCSM’s clerk, Helen Perkins, was made an honorary liverymen.

It was also announced that Keith Valentine, CEO at Fight for Sight, joined WCSM’s governing court. Master spectacle maker Liz Shilling, said: ‘By bringing people together from such a wide range of backgrounds and professions we know that the message of better vision for all can reach many different communities.’
