Welsh practices encouraged to offer bilingual service

North Wales practices encouraged to offer services in Welsh.

Health officials in North Wales have been working with optical practices to help them deliver services in Welsh.

Welsh language officers and translators have been visiting practices across Gwynedd and Anglesey to discuss the advantages of offering bilingual services.

Head of welsh language services at Betsi Cadwalard Univeristy health board Eleri Hughes-Jones said: ‘The first point of contact for a high percentage of patients is with a primary care provider. We as a health board feel that there is a duty to provide Welsh speaking patients with Welsh medium services, be it in primary or secondary care.’
