 Mark Walker has moved from his role as regional systems director for Tesco in Somerset to store director for Specsavers opticians in Kings Heath - some 30 years after leaving the Birmingham suburb.
The Eyecare Trust welcomes two new trustees: ABDO representative Kelly Plahay and Derek McLaren elected by FMO. McLaren joins the Trust from his role as company secretary and consultant to Silhouette UK, which he formed in co-operation with its Austrian parent company in 1980. He is also an executive council member of the Optical Frame Importers and Manufacturing Association and a council member for Optra Exhibitions UK. Plahay joins the company from her role as DO and manager of Specsavers in Kirkstall. She is also a member of the GOC fitness to practise committee and sits on the ABDO board of directors.
CIBA Vision has appointed OO Mark Draper (pictured above) as professional marketing manager to add further support to its professional services team. Draper's role has been created to provide support for practitioners by offering help and advice on practice management and specialist business issues. He will also manage CIBA Vision's seminars and CET programmes. Draper has an MBA and has written the Association of Contact Lens Manufacturers' best practice handbook 50 ways to improve your contact lens business.
Michelle Hollingworth has joined Norville Eyewear as frame sales executive for the East Anglia region. For the past 10 years she has been working as a practice manager for a small independent group.
