Will.i.am makes eyewear debut with ill.i Optics collection

Music producer and entrepreneur will.i.am has released his debut eyewear collection through manufacturer and distributor Allison.

Said to have been inspired by the oversize sunglasses worn by graffiti artists in the 1980s and a lifelong passion for experimental eyewear, the unisex ill.i Optics range of ophthalmic frames and sunglass styles has been created in conjunction with designer George Gorrow.

‘I see a gap in the world of eyewear and this is my instalment of what I feel is missing. I want this to be an honest brand – it’s about dedication and passion,’ said will.i.am.

Men’s sunglass styles include thin, round oversize metal silhouettes and futuristic aviator-inspired designs. Ophthalmic models are based around oversize thick acetate shapes with metal accents on the eye wires.
