Winston's glasses

unsuccessful bid: A Winston Churchill impersonator was among the unsuccessful bidders for a pair of the late Prime Minister's spectacles at a Northamptonshire auction (News 04.03.11). Churchill lookalike Derek Humbert was trying to reclaim the tortoiseshell glasses for the manufacturer CW Dixey & Son of London. The glasses, which were in pristine condition, were bought by a telephone bid for £11,200.
