Worshipful awards

The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (WCSM) recently held its first awards ceremony for optical assistants who achieved the SCQF Level 5 Certificate in Optical Care. Certificates were presented by Master Spectacle Maker, Michael Barton at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

In his address to successful candidates, Barton stressed the importance of good communication within optical practices and listening to the needs of patients, while providing care. A second group of 50 optical assistants has already begun preparatory training prior to assessment in 2012.
