From this week, Optician's Contact Lens Monthly section has a new look and new features.
Established 36 years ago, Contact Lens Monthly is the only monthly section devoted to contact lenses among the UK journals. From this month it has its own dedicated front cover and a more distinctive look to its pages.
Among the new features is a revival of the Contact Us page, in which a panel of experienced practitioners answers readers' contact lens queries. The page also features a 'What's this?' picture with answers the following month. Images can be submitted at Optician Space via www.opticianonline.net.
Also new is Lens File, a series of regular profiles of recently introduced specialist lenses from manufacturers of all sizes.
To mark the introduction of the new look, contact lens historian Andrew Gasson describes the contents of the first-ever issue of Contact Lens Monthly and some of the notable features and contributors over the years.
This first issue also includes a feature on 'How to become a contact lens practitioner' and the leaflet, 'See yourself as a contact lens practitioner?'. Additional copies of the leaflet are available at www.bcla.org.uk or www.abdo.org.uk.
