US firm Zeal Optics has won a design award for its Transcend Z3 goggles with built in GPS system, to be launched in 2012.

Outside, a US lifestyle magazine, awarded the product one of eight Radical Design Awards, describing it as using James Bond-style technology. The goggles feature an adjustable vertical odometer, providing real-time access to performance statistics including speed, altitude, temperature and time. With a wide vision screen, the goggles use polarised lenses in a photochromic option, cutting 99.9 per cent of glare and 100 per cent of UV rays. They come with a software application that allows users to transfer all data from their goggle to their computer, so that they can see their fastest and slowest speeds, review individual runs and see vertical distances covered.
