An evening of celebration, dancing and gambling was richly deserved for those who took part in the Optician Awards 2012 on Saturday.
The winners and those nominated seemed to really enjoy the occasion, which was newsworthy in itself. Unsurprisingly, it was double Award winner Kirit Patel who made most headlines and his story can be viewed here.
Using the wonders of modern technology (plus a reporter who is an expert in photography) this year's awards also saw the birth of the Optician Video Wall, where winners visited for a reactionary video straight after they came off stage.
The interviews are currently being edited, but will soon be available to view online. The news team likened doing the interviews to a stint down in the Wembley tunnel, popping of Champagne and tears of joy included.
