Simon Jones

Variable focus eyewear manufacturer Adlens has won an iF Product Design Award for its Adjustables spectacles. The product was entered in the medicine/healthcare category and Adlens said the jury considered criteria such as design quality, finish, choice of materials, degree of innovation, environmental impact, functionality, ergonomics, visualisation of intended use and safety.

Commenting on the award, Rob Stevens, chief technology officer at Adlens said: ‘Our skill set encompasses two usually separate areas: We develop instantly adjustable optical lenses and precision engineer the corresponding frames at the same time. For 60 years, the iF Product Design Award has been an internationally recognised label for exceptional design and it is a great honour for us to have the recognition of the best product designers in the world for our product.’
