Alain Mikli shows there's more Mileage in aviators

Simon Jones

For its new Mileage collection, Alain Mikli has attempted to reinvent the classic aviator silhouette using modern production techniques and styles. The collection's Mileage moniker stems from the aviator style's history in both aviation and motoring. Eight models comprise the collection - seven sunglass styles and one ophthalmic frame.

The acetate AL1204 (1)ophthalmic frame features a softer take on the aviator profile, making them more suitable for everyday wear. Six colour schemes are available, including a brown marble effect hue and two distinctive chequered-effect patterns.

The metal and acetate AL1206 (2) sunglass is a more traditional take on the silhouette, with faithful reproductions of the teardrop lens profiles. However, coloured acetate on the brow bar and temples gives the frame a modern style. The metal AL1212 (3) sunglass is slightly more leftfield in appearance, with sculpted metal on the temples and brow bar.
